I sent my playoff suggestions post into the AAFL yesterday and I received this response back from Marcus Katz:
3 team playoff:
The first week have the #2 and #3 teams play. Then have the winner play the #1 team. I like this because there is a real reward to finishing the regular season #1. A bye is huge. The only draw back I see is that the #1 team would have 3 weeks off...but these college players are used to that aren't they?
This is the format.
First round is now June 28 and Championship game is July 3 or July 5.

I'm really pleased with this. The AAFL regular season is going to have meaningful games all the way up to th end. A bye is a huge reward for finishing on top.
